Thinking about installing a portable or inflatable pool?

Here are some pool guidelines to aid in your decision.

Did you know…

Portable Pools/Inflatable

(temporary)

- above 24” require a rigid fence (48”) with a self-closing gate containing a self latching device

- electrical must be GFI protected

- pool alarm is required

- 24” or less – no fence required

- no permit required

Above Ground Pools

(permanent)     

            -  below 48” require rigid fence

        -  electrical must be GFI protected and inspected by a NYS Electrical Inspector

        -  pool alarm is required

        -  building permit required – fee $30

In-Ground Pools

(permanent)  

         -  a rigid fence (48”) with a self-closing gate containing a self-latching device is required

         -  electrical must be GFI protected and inspected by a NYS Electrical Inspector

         -  pool alarm is required

         -  building permit required – fee $50

All pools, existing and new, must comply.

Other codes apply, depending on your application.
