Town Of Boston Introduces New Recycling Reward Program

Waste Management residential program offers citizens extra incentives to recycle!

Town of BOSTON, New York – JULY 2011 Waste Management, North America's largest recycling and solid waste management company, was chosen by the Town of Boston for a new customer rewards program called “Think Green Rewards.”

Think Green Rewards is designed to help the Town of Boston to meet long-term sustainability and recycling goals

by offering residents an extra incentive to recycle.  The new program allows the Town of Boston residents to

track their recycling activities on-line and earn Think Green Rewards points for using their recycling bin to

divert materials – like aluminum, plastic, glass and cardboard – to reprocessing and reuse.

Think Green Rewards is part of Waste Management's publicly stated commitment to triple the amount

of recyclable materials collected throughout North America by 2020.

As a community-based program, the Town of Boston residents can earn Think Green Rewards Points

just by filling their recycling bins, as points are based on the total weight of recyclables collected on each route.

Points are earned and then redeemed on-line through an electronic rewards catalog.

The Think Green Rewards catalog includes coupons for discounted movie tickets, free or discounted meals,

video game rentals and other local Boston-area entertainment values.

“We are proud to work with Waste Management on this innovative program to reward residents for recycling,”

said the Town of Boston Supervisor Martin Ballowe.  “Every item residents recycle helps us keep our refuse

costs low and conserve natural resources.  Now thanks to “Think Green Rewards,” we'll have a fun way

to “Think Green” and get rewarded for our efforts.”

Each Town of Boston household will soon receive a postcard explaining the Think Green Rewards Program

that includes information on how to sign up online

Residents get their first 50 points free just for signing up!  Residents can also go to

Think Green Boston to register or learn more about the program.
