When do I need a building permit?
Boston Town Code 57-2
No person shall erect, construct, enlarge, alter, improve, remove, or demolish any building or structure without obtaining a permit.
Permits are required for:
New buildings (residential and commercial)
Additions
Accessory buildings (pre-fab or constructed on-site)
Decks
Gazebos
Swimming pools
Solid fuel appliances (fireplaces, wood stoves, pellet stoves)
Any structural changes
