Rules for Garbage and Recyclable Collection
TIME All garbage and recyclables should be placed out for collection by
6:30 A.M on your scheduled day, but not sooner than 24 hours before. All streets
are covered once only.
SIZE AND WEIGHT All garbage should be placed in bags or cans not to exceed
30-gallon capacity and/or weigh more than 70 pounds. Any material not in cans or
bags should be securely tied in bundles no more than four (4) feet in length.
ITEM LIMIT On a weekly basis, a limit of five (5) items of acceptable
refuse and waste materials will be collected per family unit. This is not based
on an average number of items, it is (5) items per unit, per week.
BULKY WASTE COLLECTION Once a week, each family unit will be entitled to
discard one (1) bulky item (ex. mattress and boxspring, furniture and
appliances). Any appliance containing CFCs/FREON(refrigerators, freezers,
air conditioners, etc, can be placed at the curb, and Waste Management will pick
up the appliance and have the material removed, at no cost.
Please note that large metal items will be picked up the following day
RECYCLING Place your recyclables out weekly on the same day as your garbage
collection. Place all acceptable material into the recycling bins provided and
follow the recycling guide found on the opposite side of this sheet. Please
note: we typically use trucks that pick up both garbage and recycling at the
same time. The truck has a separate compartment for recyclables, and a separate
hopper for garbage and trash.
HOLIDAY SCHEDULE If your collection day is on or follows any of these
holidays during the week, then your collection day will be one day later.

EXTRA ITEMS- The Town has instituted a limit of 5 items per household. For
extra items Waste Management has stickers available for $1 per sticker, plus
sales tax. The sticker may be placed on any extra 30 gallon can or bag, and will
be picked up with your weekly garbage. The stickers may be obtained in lots of
12 by calling Customer Service at 496-5000.
